Terms of use
Last updated 20 October 2026
Wild Alamo is a small, private website run by its owner for the enjoyment of family and friends. It shows short clips of wild animals caught on cameras around Alamo, California. These terms say what you can expect from the site and what the site expects from you. They are written in plain language on purpose; where they are silent, common sense and courtesy apply.
By using the site, requesting an account, or sharing a clip, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. A private site, run by its owner
This is not a public service and not a business. It is maintained by one person in their spare time. The owner alone decides what the site does, which features exist, who may have an account, what is shown, and whether the site keeps running at all. Those decisions may change at any time, without notice and without explanation, and there is no obligation to add features, keep anything available, or respond to requests. If that arrangement is not for you, this is not the site for you.
2. Suitable for all ages
Everything on this site should be fit for a child to see. That is the standard against which every clip and every word is judged, and it is not negotiable.
3. Accounts
Anyone may watch. Sharing a clip needs an account, and every account is approved by the owner personally before it can be used. You must give a real name and a working email address, keep your password to yourself, and take responsibility for anything done from your account. An account may be declined, suspended or closed at any time, for any reason or none. You may ask to have your account and your clips removed at any time.
4. Your clips remain yours
The site does not own the clips you share and does not claim to. The copyright in footage you filmed, or that your camera recorded, stays with you or with whoever holds it.
So that the site can actually show your clip, you grant its owner a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, copy, convert, resize, take still frames from, analyse, and display it on the site and through the services the site uses to do those things, for as long as the clip stays on the site. This licence ends when the clip is deleted, except for copies that linger in backups for a short while afterwards.
5. You are responsible for what you share
When you share a clip you are telling us that all of the following are true:
- you filmed it yourself, or it came from a camera you own or control, or you otherwise hold the rights to it;
- it is not copied from another person, another site, a broadcast, or anywhere else you have no right to take it from;
- sharing it breaks no law and no agreement you have with anyone;
- you accept full responsibility for it — for its ownership, its origin, and anything it shows.
The owner of the site takes no responsibility for what members share and has no duty to check it. If a clip you shared turns out to be someone else's, the consequences are yours.
6. What belongs here, and what does not
The site is for genuine footage of wild animals going about their lives. Please do not share:
- footage in which people can be recognised, or that shows number plates, house numbers, street signs, or anything else that identifies a person or a home;
- sound in which people can be heard — a security camera often picks up a conversation; trim or mute it before sharing;
- animals being baited, harassed, trapped, hurt, or otherwise treated badly — watching wildlife means leaving it alone;
- staged or faked footage, or captive animals presented as wild;
- anything violent, cruel, sexual, hateful, or otherwise unfit for a child;
- advertising, promotion, or anything shared for money;
- anything you do not have the right to share (see section 5).
Titles, descriptions and place names are held to the same standard. A place name should say roughly where — a trail, a creek, a neighbourhood — never a street address, yours or anyone else's.
7. Checks, holds and removal
After a clip is uploaded the site examines it automatically: it reads the date and time from the video and from the picture, and it uses an artificial intelligence service to name the animal. These checks are aids, not judges, and they are sometimes wrong; you can correct what they conclude.
Before a clip goes public it is also checked for people. Anyone found is covered by a blur while the clip plays on this site; that is a safety net for the passer-by who wanders into shot, not permission to share footage of people.
When the checks are in doubt — no animal can be made out, people appear to be visible but could not be located to blur them, or anything else looks out of place for a family wildlife site — the clip is held. A held clip is visible only to you and to the owner, and stays out of the gallery until the owner has looked at it and allowed it. The owner may also remove any clip, at any time, whether or not it was held, and owes no explanation for doing so.
8. No warranty, no promises
The site is provided as it is, when it is. It may be slow, wrong, incomplete, or switched off. Automatic identifications and timestamps may be mistaken. Nothing on the site is advice of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, the owner makes no warranties about the site and accepts no liability for any loss or harm arising from your use of it or from anything anyone has shared on it.
9. Reporting a clip
Every clip's page has a Report this clip link. Use it if a clip shows you, your home or your vehicle, if it is unsuitable for an all-ages site, or if it is yours and was shared without your permission. You do not need an account. The owner is told at once and will hide or remove a clip that should not be here.
10. Comments
Members, and visitors who confirm their email address, may comment under a sighting. The same all-ages standard applies to every word. When you comment:
- Be kind. Disagree with the idea, never attack the person.
- Keep it about wildlife and the sighting in front of you.
- No personal information: no phone numbers, addresses or full names of private people, yours or anyone else's.
- No links or ads. Comments with web addresses are refused.
- No den or nest locations. Animals with young are easily disturbed; say the neighbourhood, never the spot.
Comments are checked automatically before they appear, by an automated service that reads your name and your words. A comment may be published at once, held for the owner to look at, or not published at all. Visitors can report a comment, and a comment reported several times is held again. The owner may remove any comment and may block anyone from commenting, without notice and without giving a reason. You can delete your own comments from the same browser you posted them from.
11. Copyright notices
The owner of the site has registered a designated agent with the United States Copyright Office to receive notices of claimed infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512. The designated agent is Webmaster. Notices reach the agent through the Report this clip link on the clip's page, or by email to support@wildalamo.com.
For a notice to be acted on it should include: a link to the clip; a description of the work you say it copies; your name, address and email; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, their agent or the law; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature. Clips that are the subject of a complete notice are taken down promptly, and the member who shared the clip is told. A member may send a counter-notice with the elements the Act sets out, after which the clip may be restored unless the complainant begins a court action within the time the Act allows. Members whose clips are the subject of repeated valid notices lose their accounts.
12. Changes to these terms
These terms may change. The date at the top says when they last did. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms; if you do not, stop using the site and ask to have your account removed.
13. Law
The site is run from California, in the United States, and these terms are governed by the laws of California. Any dispute that cannot be settled between reasonable people will be heard by the courts there.
14. Getting in touch
Questions about these terms go to support@wildalamo.com. See also the privacy policy, which explains what the site does with the little it knows about you.
